Once voted ‘third funniest man in the world’ at the New York Radio Festival, Spence has been all over the place since starting his professional career in broadcasting in 1987.

The North West and Manchester is his true home though and the Manchester City supporting presenter is now back on the station he launched in January 2000.

Proud daddy to two fur babies (dogs), Tula and Daisy, Spence enjoys walkies with them daily (except when it’s raining) and cycling in his spare time. Although he says it was more fun when the pubs were fully open as he enjoyed a pint on a halfway stop at The Romper near Manchester Airport before cycling back home.

A South Manchester resident, Spence can often be seen responsibly enjoying a pint (when the pubs are fully open) in various South Manchester hostelries or queuing to get a lunchtime bite to eat at Gabbotts Farm in Stockport. “Although I am trying to become a vegetarian slowly” he says.

Highlight of his career? “Interviewing Dusty Springfield in her bedroom at the Midland Hotel in Manchester. She was so sweet.” As well as introducing Prince and Bryan Adams at the respective gigs in Manchester. One is still alive so he doesn’t think he’s been a jinx!
